How this website collects, uses and protects personal information, in plain language.

In short

  • We collect what you type into our forms, plus the basic technical information needed to run the website.
  • We use it to reply to you, arrange demos and keep the website free of spam. We don't sell it.
  • Product update emails go only to people who opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • No advertising pixels or session recording. Analytics run only if they are switched on and you agree.
  • You can ask to see or correct your information, or withdraw consent, using the contact details at the end.

Who we are and what this policy covers

STRACTA (“STRACTA”, “we”, “us”) operates this website. This policy explains what personal information the website collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

It covers this public website only. The STRACTA application that customers use is covered by separate agreements with those customers.

We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the provincial privacy laws that apply.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you request a demo, we ask for your name, work email, company, contractor type, approximate team size and the main operational challenge you want to discuss. You can add a short note if you choose.

When you use the contact form, we ask for your name, email, company or organization (optional for a privacy request or Other), the topic and your message.

With each form, we also record the time it was sent, the page on this website it was sent from, the wording of the consent you gave, and whether you asked to receive product update emails.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the servers that deliver this website keep technical records of each request, such as the IP address, browser type, page requested and time. These records are used to deliver the website, keep it secure and diagnose problems.

Our forms use automated checks to filter out spam, including a limit on how often one connection can send a form. The network address used for that limit is held briefly in the server's memory and is not saved.

What we don't collect

This website does not use advertising pixels or session recording. It never asks for payment details or government identification.

How we use it

We use personal information to:

  • reply to your demo request or message;
  • arrange and run a demo, and follow up about it;
  • answer questions from existing customers;
  • keep a record of our conversations with you;
  • protect the website and its forms from spam, abuse and security threats;
  • send product update emails, but only if you opted in;
  • meet our legal obligations.

We don't sell personal information. We don't use it for a new purpose without asking you first, unless the law allows or requires it.

How form submissions reach us

When you send a form, the website passes your submission to our team in one or both of these ways, depending on how the website is set up:

  • as an email to our team, sent through an email delivery provider;
  • as a secure message to a business system we use to manage enquiries, such as a customer relationship tool.

The website itself doesn't store your submission. It passes it on and keeps no copy.

Service providers that handle your information for us are expected, by contract, to protect it and to use it only for the work they do for us.

Cookies and analytics

We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

This website doesn't measure visits and sets no analytics cookie. If we add analytics, the website will ask for your agreement first, and you will be able to change your choice at any time on the Cookie preferences page.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only:

  • with service providers that host the website, deliver form submissions, protect the forms from spam or send email for us;
  • when the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal demand;
  • as part of a business transaction, such as a merger or sale, where the information stays protected under this policy;
  • with your consent, for any other reason.

Where information is stored

Our service providers may store or process information outside your province or outside Canada. When that happens, the information is subject to the laws of the place where it is held, and those laws may allow authorities there to access it.

To ask where your information is processed, contact us using the details below.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, including keeping a reasonable record of our conversations with you and meeting legal requirements. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.

How we protect it

We protect personal information with safeguards suited to its sensitivity, and we limit access to the people who need it for their work.

No website or email system is completely secure. If you believe your information has been put at risk, contact us right away. To report a security issue, see Security and privacy.

Your rights in Canada

Under PIPEDA and the provincial privacy laws that apply to you, you can:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and see it;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • withdraw your consent, subject to legal or contractual limits;
  • ask how we have used your information and who we have shared it with;
  • make a complaint to us.

If you live in Quebec, Alberta or British Columbia, provincial private-sector privacy laws also apply and may give you additional rights.

We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or to the privacy regulator in your province.

Visitors outside Canada

This website is written for contractors in Canada first. If you visit from another country, for example the United States, the United Kingdom or a country in the European Union, the privacy laws where you live may give you additional rights, such as asking us to delete your information or to stop using it for certain purposes.

Contact us to make a request. We will tell you how we can help under the laws that apply to you.

Children

This website is for businesses. It is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top of this page shows the last update. If a change is significant, we will say so clearly on this page.
