Plan the day

Projects

Every job's details, baseline and daily progress in one record. Each project holds the job name and number, status, client and general location. It carries a production baseline and shows progress against it, with the quantities reported from the field each day. The dispatch is planned by project, so the office and the field mean the same job.

The Harborview Corridor project card shows 1,600 of 2,880 tonnes placed against a baseline of 1,780 tonnes through today, with 140 tonnes recorded so far today.

Problems solved

Where the day breaks down.

  1. Progress is in someone's head

The project manager finds out how many tonnes went down by calling the foreman. By Friday, the running total is a guess.

  2. Baseline in one file, actuals in another

The plan sits in the estimate and the daily numbers sit in a notebook. Nobody can say whether the job is ahead or behind until someone adds it up.

  3. One job, three names

Dispatch, the field and the office each describe the job differently, so the day's records don't line up.

What it does

What Projects does.

In plain terms. Your version of STRACTA is shaped around how your team works, so bring your own workflow to the demo.

  • One record per job

Name and job number, status, client and general location. The same project appears on the dispatch, in My Day and in the production record.

  • A production baseline

Each project carries a production baseline: the planned quantity the work is measured against.

  • Progress against the baseline

A progress indicator shows what has been placed to date next to where the baseline says the job should be.

  • Daily quantity reporting

Quantities recorded in Daily Production show on the project day by day, so progress comes from the field record, not a phone call.

Workflow

How a day runs.

Projects on one working day, step by step.

  1. Dana K., dispatcher

Publishes Harborview Corridor on the dispatch with 320 t of HL3 planned for the day.

  2. Marco D., foreman

Records 140.00 t placed so far, with 18.0 hours and a photo of the finished mat.

  3. Helen A., project manager

    Opens the project: 1,600 t of 2,880 t placed (55.6%), against a baseline of 1,780 t through today (61.8%).

  4. Helen A., project manager

Reads the 180 t difference as the part of today's 320 t not yet recorded, since paving continues after the 3:30 PM entry.

FAQ

Questions about Projects.

What is a production baseline?

The planned quantity the job is measured against, day by day. Comparing what has been placed to date with the baseline through today shows whether the job is ahead or behind.

Where do the daily quantities come from?

From Daily Production. Foremen record quantities, hours and photos from the Report tab on a phone, and the project shows them against the baseline.

Is it the same project on the dispatch and in the field?

Yes. The dispatch is planned by project, so the same job appears on the board, in each foreman's My Day and in the production record.
